If you are referring to conversion to political beliefs or party affiliation, Jews are not a unique group using this practice. If, however, you are referring to conversion to Judaism, it is MUCH more difficult to convert to Judaism than to Christianity. Since I have done both in my lifetime and know many from both sides who have gone through the experience, I know this to be true. It is required in Judaism to turn away someone who is interested in Judaism and a potential convert three times before acknowledging their desire - taken from the Old Testament. Actually during our strategic planning process we felt it necessary to shorten our MISSION statement and seperate the PURPOSE and VALUES and STRATEGIC PRIORITIES (GOALS) which will support the overall mission. Family oriented was changed to neighborshood values. I strongly support our families and will look at a way to work this into the strategic priorities.
